CHAMPION COOPERATIVE WINERY OF THE LITTLE KAROO TWICE
Situated along Route 62 in the Klein Karoo district of Calitzdorp, a small wine town aka Cape wine town of our Cape, lies the vineyards of Calitzdorp Cellars. The natural beauty and breathtaking landscape varies from rugged red soils to valleys and shaded kloof areas.
The variety of terroir infuse complex flavours into various cultivars, spread over 300 hectares and 40 farms. Calitzdorp Cellar was established in 1928. Sweet Muscadel and Hanepoot were flagship wines and are still firm favourites.
Calitzdorp Wine Cellar was established in 1928 and produced wine for Distell until the late eighties. During the eighties, Sweet Muscadel and Hanepoot were flagship wines and are still amongst our best sellers.
Our first red wines were made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Shiraz, Pinotage, Tinta Barocca, Touriga Nacional, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc were planted in the early nineties.
